This 2 day workshop was organized by the department of Corporate & Investment Promotion Services (CIPS) in ACTDA, headed by Ms Ifeoma R. Obi (SA/HOD CIPS), under the preeminence of the MD/CEO ACTDA, Arc. Michael M. Okonkwo who in his opening speech on the Objectives of ACTDA, highlighted the milestone achievements of the State under the Governorship of HE. Willie Obiano in ACT through ACTDA, “more developments is said to set in as all hands should be on deck for the promulgation of good works for ACTDA, ACT and Anambra State at large”, the MD/CEO ACTDA admonished.
Also adding essence to the workshop was the Executive Director ACTDA, Ernest Adinweruka (SSA) who spoke on Approach/Professionalism In Carrying Out Development Control Duties. In his speech, he emphasized on the professional qualities essential for Development Control. Also speaking was the HOD CIPS, ACTDA, Ms Ifeoma R. Obi (SA) who made a concise presentation on Development Control as a Corporate Investment Promotional Tool. She emphasized on the vision of the Governor in realizing a Dubai-inspired dream for Awka Capital Territory and also making ACT and Anambra State an Investors Hub.
Also speaking at the Workshop were other highly placed professionals like Charles N. Agu (KBL Insurance, AGM South East), Arc. Peter Okpala (Chairman NIA, Anambra Chapter/Head, Front Line Services Consortium), The Commandant, Civil Defence Corps, Awka (by proxy), Victor Okpoko (HOD Development Control-ACTDA), Engr. Oliver Amahua (Anambra State Material Testing Laboratory-ASMTL-), Mrs. Stella Onwubuya Ezeala (SSA on ACTDA), Ms Chioma Nwabunike (ETA to MD/CEO ACTDA), Nelson Omenugha (ICT Analyst, ACTDA), Ajuluchukwu Nwankwo (Ag. HOD Urban and Regional Planning ACTDA), Mr. A.I. Aniagor (HOD Acct, ACDTA) and Emelife Theresa (HEO Acct. ACTDA), amongst other speakers.
Key subjects were discussed such as “Builders Liability Insurance”, “Record Keeping and Monitoring”, “Environmental Health Issues and Identification”, “Approval Drawing Standards/Requirements”, “Security Consciousness in Development Control Duties”, “Development Control/Contravention & Compromise in the Line of Duty (Corruption & Consequences)”, “The Essence of Material Testing in Development Control Process”, “Diligence in Field Activities”, “Greater ACTDA…Your Role as Field Officers”, “Law Guiding Development Control”, “Proper accounting process as it Relates”, “Essentials of Development Control”.
The Workshop was polished with sumptuous breakfast and lunch sessions, and refined by very informative interactive sessions for the duration.
The MD/CEO, ACTDA, Arc. Michael M. Okonkwo, expressed great burden in his heart to impart the knowledge and create professional awareness of the significance of Development Control and it’s professional implementation for maximum effectiveness.
